Novel Publicity Blog Tours: Wired

Mary Elizabeth and Charlie’s marriage is fading away as Charlie tries to just get along and Mary Elizabeth struggles not to disappear completely. A murdered teenager is discovered at the local teenage hangout on a bluff high above main street bringing back memories to Mary Elizabeth that she would rather forget but may hold the key to saving an entire town. But when the bodies keep popping up everyone must struggle with feelings of guilt, shame and redemption.

Note from the Author: WIRED is an old school thriller set in 1989 just before the age of the internet, cell phones, home computers or even ATM’s. Enjoy reading about an era that had more in common with the technology of 1889 than 2011, and a time when people had to lay eyes on each other and communicate face to face if they were going to stop a killer.
Wired was a quick and enjoyable read that kept me on the edge of my seat. Through the tortured eyes of Mary Elizabeth we see how secrets, lies and redemption get tangled together. And how unraveling the tangles can bring both pain and closure.
I found the story of Charlie and Mary Elizabeth's marriage, and the rebuilding of Mary Elizabeth's life, as the best part of the story. The theme of conquering ones fears and overcoming years of pain and hurt are universal. And the haunting crimes being played out in the mind of the killer, intertwined in the lives of the other characters, worked wonderfully for the telling of the story. This story is suspenseful, fantastic and  dramatic. Watching Mary Elizabeth struggle to protect her son and rebuild her life while painful memories surface is powerful. And Ms.Carr conveys those emotions seamlessly in the character of Mary Elizabeth.  Although I did find Charlie a much stronger and emotionally connected character, he makes the story for me.
This is one book I will lend out, but wouldn't mind reading again.
