Book Review & Giveaway : Runaway Girl

Runaway Girl
***Due to the current weather conditions in the northeastern United States, contest is extended till Tuesday February 12th ***

A missing vampire princess. A soul fractured among five young human girls. One loyal vampire with a grudge. Can vampire soldier Damian set aside his personal feelings to follow orders? Can princess Amelia's soul be reunited in time for the meeting of the three clans? Will her brother, Matthew, fight for the right to rule? Who will prevail?

First of all, I LOVE this cover. The cover alone made me want to read this book. In a world populated with vampire books Elaine White gives us a completely original tale filled with complex family relationships. White takes the emphasis off the predatory vampire and human relationship and instead focuses on their world.  She takes us inside a complex world of clans and politics, family vendettas and warring lands.

When the vampire princess Amelia grows tired of her restricted life she seeks out the help of a voodoo master. He separates her from her  soul and allows it to live on in human form. But, he has fractured her soul among five human girls. In these lives Amelia can live over and over, bringing bits and pieces of herself to each life.

Damian is the warrior who was her guard. And was also her betrothed. It is his quest to find the five girls who hide her soul and bring them together. What he doesn't know is that each girl also has their own agenda and their own powers.  Added to the mix is Amelia's brother who has his own own idea about who should be restored to power. One by one Damian hunts the girls down and kidnaps them. The girls are thrust into the vampire clan and it's political agenda, but can they even bring Amelia back. Can they even reunite the fractured pieces of her soul?

If you are looking for "blood sucking" vampire violence, you won't find that here. These vampire's don't sparkle, they aren't vegetarian, and they are more "Blade" than "Dracula."

What you will find is a more grown up and complex story woven between many characters and worlds. What you will find is a story line that demands attention. That begs you to find the intricate detail the author puts into the story. What you will find is world within a world. While I would have liked maybe a little more back story on a few of the characters, maybe a little clearer on what a particular vendetta was, the story grabbed my attention and held it. The focus is less on the vampire and more on the relationships. My favorite character by far was Kaitlin. I don't want to give any spoilers away on her, but just know that she is original and her story would make a good book all it's own. She was the perfect combination of spunk and sweetness, all rolled up with a magical sparkle. (He he)

I give this book four stars and definitely urge you to try it. In fact we are giving away a copy right now. All you have to do is comment on this blog post and you will be entered in a drawing for a copy. But there is more. Elaine White
Elaine White was born and raised in the small town of Haddington, Scotland. She began writing from an early age when she thought that she would have written differently passages from the books she was reading.

At the age of 14, she tweaked existing stories to experiment with various writing styles. Eventually, this led to her taking a Creative Writing course and writing her own stories from scratch. Now, she finds inspiration everywhere, which has lead to numerous novels and series ranging from college romance and crime to the supernatural world of witches and vampires.

Elaine currently lives at home in Scotland with her parents and boisterous poodle. She is a full time student and full time writer. You can find Elaine on Facebook  and her blog Vampires, Crime and Angels... Eclectic Me. Her book is available on Amazon and Smashwords.

*** Just a little note, here in Massachusetts we are under a Blizzard watch, the storm is pretty intense. In the event I loose power, I will extend the drawing till Tuesday February 12th. Watch the page for updates. Thanks you everybody for your understanding.***
